The director of the Olympic Center (OC) Jahorina, Dejan Ljevnaić, stated that the cross-country skiing course at Dvorišttima has great potential and importance for the further development of the mountain, as well as for attracting new visitors through the revitalization of this terrain.
Ljevnaić emphasized that the course at Dvorišta is an untapped gem with great potential that Jahorina should utilize. The terrain was previously functional during the European Youth Olympic Festival, providing excellent competition conditions, but unfortunately, after that event, it entered a phase of stagnation.
“Cross-country skiing is one of the most demanding sports, combining endurance, strength, and technique. The development of this sport on Jahorina would expand our offer and attract new target groups, including recreational skiers, professionals, and even those competing in biathlon. Biathlon, which combines cross-country skiing and shooting, would further contribute to the uniqueness of this location, as it requires incredible concentration and physical fitness,” Ljevnaić explained.
He added that Jahorina already has all the prerequisites to position itself as a top destination for winter sports, while the revitalization and improvement of the cross-country venue at Dvorišta would be a key step in that direction.
According to him, this upgrade would not only attract new visitors but also strengthen the demand for Nordisko skijanje, in the region and beyond.
“Dvorišta, with its natural beauty, exceptional climate, and ideal terrain for cross-country skiing, deserves to be fully utilized. This investment would be crucial for the further development of Jahorina and the enhancement of our offerings, providing opportunities for international competitions as well as recreational tourism development,” Ljevnaić concluded.
Ljevnaić conveyed that the Olympic Center Jahorina will continue its efforts to modernize infrastructure and expand its offerings to make full use of the potential this mountain has to offer.
