Welcome to our skiing school!
We are glad you have decided to step into the world of skiing with us. Skiing is more than just a sport; it is a connection to nature, a feeling of freedom, and enjoying the snow in a unique way. Our team of professional instructors is dedicated to teaching you the basic skiing techniques in a simple and personalized manner, ensuring that every moment on the slopes is carefree and safe. Regardless of your starting point, our instructors closely monitor your progress and help you quickly experience the joy of skiing. Get ready for an unforgettable winter adventure, as your first steps on skis often lead to a lifelong love for the mountains!
Choosing the right ski equipment is crucial for your first skiing steps.
When you first step onto skis, the equipment can be critical for a comfortable and safe experience. If the ski gear is not suitable for your needs as a beginner—such as having skis that are not the right length, skis designed for advanced skiers, overly stiff skis, those with a large radius, poorly maintained equipment, or if your boots are too hard, too small, too large, wet, or if the bindings are not properly adjusted to your weight—you are more likely to fall frequently due to skis coming off your boots. In the worst-case scenario, the bindings might not release during a serious fall, making it more likely for you to lose motivation and quit immediately. That’s why we at our skiing school pay special attention to the choice of equipment, dressing properly, and providing support at every step. Our ski instructors help you feel stable and comfortable on the snow, so you can master the basic techniques more easily and, most importantly, enjoy the learning process. Always ask your instructor for advice on ski equipment to make it easier for both of you to quickly master the slopes. Communication is number one for success!
Skiing area for beginners: The first step towards safe and comfortable skiing.
Arriving at the skiing area is your first step towards mastering skiing skills, so it’s important to choose a flat and stable spot to start. Your first skiing lesson and the area provide the fundamentals that should not be skipped—they are the foundations of your progress. Ask your instructor any questions you may have, as clear information is key to gaining confidence and trust on the slopes.
Before starting the lesson, check your equipment. Your boots should be properly fastened, comfortable but not too tight. Ensure that there is nothing in your boots except thermal socks—no extra clothing, such as sweatpants or heavy underwear, that could cause discomfort or blisters. This way, you will avoid any discomfort that might prevent you from continuing to learn the very next day. With professional advice and comfortable equipment, your first skiing lesson will become a solid foundation upon which you will build all your future skiing skills.
Putting on skis and the first contact with the snow.
When putting on skis, always pay attention to ensure that the skis are positioned horizontally, perpendicular to the direction of the ski slope, to maintain stability. It is essential to put on the lower ski, the one that is lower on the slope.
However, beginners often try to forcefully put on the ski, which can create problems. Always check the bottom of your boot for ice or snow, as these can hinder the fitting. Ice or snow should be thoroughly removed for the boot to fit properly into the binding. When putting on skis, first put on the lower ski, which is the one lower on the slope. This is a fundamental step towards a safe and stable start to skiing and your first lesson on the snow.
The first descent on skis.
On the area, we conduct various balance exercises, from putting on and taking off skis, maintaining the proper stance, holding the poles, positioning the legs in the boots, riding on the moving carpet, to braking. In this part of the training, the focus is on speed control, proper braking, shifting weight from ski to ski, and encouraging independence in skiers. This is all performed through a set of exercises and the experience of the ski instructor through play, socializing, and fun, aiming to quickly master the basic skiing skills.
For a beginner to progress, willpower and desire are key.
To advance in skiing, a beginner must have the will and desire to face challenges. The first fall or difficulty should not discourage them, but rather motivate them. It is crucial that after the lesson with the instructor, the candidate stays on the area for at least an hour, practicing everything learned during the skiing lesson. Returning to the area throughout the day for extra practice allows for better retention of the techniques learned, preparing them for the next lessons and faster progress.
Trust in your ski instructor.
The second day of skiing is dedicated to getting acquainted with the ski lift and proper behavior on the ski slope. First, we learn how to properly enter and exit the ski lift, and then we go over the basic rules of behavior towards other skiers. During training on the slope, you will encounter steeper sections and your first challenges, including overcoming a fear of heights or faster descents. The most important thing is to trust your ski instructor and follow their advice completely; this is crucial for success in further progress and developing skiing skills. NEVER go on the lift or the ski slopes without a protective ski helmet!
